About YSOC

Established in 1972 by a group of visionary leaders, YSOC continues to positively impact the lives of thousands of children and families in Oklahoma County each year. YSOC provides professional counseling and a variety of innovative behavioral and educational services to meet the specific needs of troubled young people. Our services are designed to foster self-esteem and resiliency, to preserve and enrich family life and to instill a sense of community in a child, family and the community-at-large.

 

Message from CEO Debbie Forshee

After a busy summer, school has begun and the holidays will be upon us soon!  It seems early to begin thinking of Fall Break, Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it isn't for us at Youth Services for Oklahoma County.

 

Remember we help more than 45 teens in the Supporting Kids in Independent Living (SKIL) Program, 18 youth at any given time in the Family Junction Emergency Youth Shelter and another 24-plus young men and women in the Juvenile Re-entry Oklahoma City (J-ROC) Program.  With a "family" that size, it's never too early to begin planning!

 

These teens, through no fault of their own, do not have parents or family members to provide Thanksgiving Dinner or Christmas gifts!  At YSOC we try to fill that gap with gifts provided through contributions from YOU!  Our new "empty" SKIL Pantry made possible by Youth Leadership Exchange Youth in Action Class IX needs to be stocked with non-perishable food items for school breaks and holiday meals.

 

Think of your family Holiday dinner costs or the Christmas gift budget for your own teenagers, kids or grandkids.  I'm sure you can relate to just how quickly the dollars go for one special gift, let alone the items that are necessities!

 

As you begin to make Fall and holiday plans, consider two ways to spread your family's blessings to those less fortunate: 1.  A monetary gift to Youth Services for Oklahoma County.  2.  Get your family/children involved in picking out gifts, click here for shopping ideas for items our youth need and use every day!
